David Fanous, OMS II
David Fanous is a second-year medical student at Kansas City University-Kansas City campus, where he is currently doing work alongside the Della Lamb Refugee Resettlement Agency in assisting refugees to gain access to healthcare. This work is especially near to his heart, as his parents sought asylum from Egypt. David grew up in Bakersfield, California, and earned his bachelor's in Human Biology from California State University, in Bakersfield, California. During undergrad, he did research that focused on levels of physician efficiency in different central line placement locations (subclavian, IJUG, and femoral) in the emergency room. He also worked in a rehabilitation hospital as a medical scribe. David has been a Gross Anatomy teaching assistant at Kansas City University since last summer, helping first-year medical students in the cadaveric anatomy lab.
David is excited to share the amazing research his group has achieved. Over the summer, he started this program with two KCU med students. It has been incredible for them to see the lives they have changed and the impact that they have had. He is confident everyone will find their work impactful and inspiring.
Outside of school, he enjoys reading, doing yoga, traveling, hiking, and playing basketball.
David discloses that he has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling, or distributing healthcare goods or services consumed by or used on patients relative to the content of this presentation.
